Noah's 2 Year Update | How is my baby 2 already?!
2 Years! Wow have they flown by?!
Noah turned 2 on the 14th June. I still cannot fathom it! It felt like 2 minutes ago we were celebrating his birth and now I have a walking talking human that I have created and kept alive for 2 Years! I struggle to keep fish alive this long, but this parenting thing.. I've got down!
So what's new?
He is still very ill, and we still don't have any ideas! He was put on a dairy free diet a few days after Xmas, we tried this for 6 months with no change. He is still dependent on medication and as he gets older the worse he is getting! He now takes so much medication he could rival an old man!
We discovered he had eczema at 6 months old and that too is getting worse with age. It started with a small patch on his back and now it has spread to his neck, his armpits, the creases in his arms by his elbows, the backs of his legs and all over his thighs and calf's. With a small patch on his belly. This has been just as bad to maintain. He has a strong steroid cream he can take once a month for a week, then a weaker one to follow for 2/3 days. He has 2 different moisturizers, a bath cream and he has to have his legs bandaged from his hips to his ankles to deter him from scratching which isn't amazing!
So many times have I grabbed him from his bed screaming to find he has scratched so much he has bled through his bandages and his clothes through to his bedding. Which then causes his legs to get infected.
At the time of writing he has what's listed above plus his Movicol to help him go to the toilet, plus he has antihistamines to stop him scratching but that doesn't work either, antibiotics for his countless infections, Iron as he is anemic and multivitamins again to help with anemia and special leggings designed to stop him scratching but you know the drill.. they don't work.
My heart breaks for him everyday to see him in constant pain that I can't help and to administer all these different medications. It's a massive headache trying to remember which meds he can take and when, what dosage and how often to give it to him!
But moving on, he was last weighed at around 21/22lbs so not amazing, but he is still on the 25th percentile. He is in size 4 nappies and he still fits into 9-12 month clothing and he still can't eat much. But he is a sucker for Parma Violets! They are his favourite sweets!
He has started nursery, he attends twice a week: Thursday 9-1 and Friday 9-5! He loves it there and has made so many friends with the children and the staff. We are not looking forward to leaving that nursery in September to put him into proper school! Nursery has helped him come on leaps and bounds, he has found his voice and can make understandable sentences. He can tell us what what he wants or needs and can even list colours and numbers! And the biggest thing, he's learning Welsh too! He can do the song 'Head shoulders Knees and Toes' in both English and Welsh and it is the cutest thing you will ever see! He also likes to list body parts and things around the house. And his love of cars and anything that's a vehicle! He love buses, boats, trains, cars and bikes and will always point them out if he sees them!
He's becoming more aware of the world around him, he's learning spacial awareness and will not stray too far away from me or Chris, he will stop and look both ways at a crossing and is understanding meeting new people in the street. Although he will wave and say hello to everyone and anything, including the Swans we see on our regular walks.
He is even getting a cheeky little thing! The other day I told him if he wanted to go play in the garden to wear his shoes, so he goes off to fetch them and puts them on his hands and looks so proud of himself and turns to me and says 'Mama shoes on!' I couldn't help but laugh at his creativity!
Every so often I sit back and watch him and think 'Where did this little guy come from?! He isn't a baby anymore and is learning so many new things every day!' A few months ago he couldn't walk and now he runs everywhere! He couldn't talk much, now he is having full conversations and even picking up on adult conversations and conversational rules like waiting for someone else to finish or making points about the relevant topic.
So the last few months have been hectic and they are going to become more in the next few months when he starts school. I can't wait to see what figure he will turn into but for now can't my baby just be a baby a little bit longer!
Spoilt on his birthday!

And his birthday cake with his favourite thing!
